Where would Queensland be without community clubs?

In 2008, peak industry body Clubs Queensland commissioned a Social and Economic Impact Study (SEIS) of the state's not-for-profit community club industry to determine the true scope and value of the contribution that Queensland clubs make to their community each year.

The study surveyed registered and licensed clubs throughout Queensland, including sporting clubs, RSL and ex-services/memorial clubs, surf lifesaving clubs, workers', business, cultural and general community clubs, and the findings were collated by Dickson Wohlsen Strategies and BDO Kendalls. Below are some of the findings (remember these are only Queensland findings):

- There are 939 clubs with 3.48 million members
- Clubs employee 26,900 people and 3,400 contractors
- Clubs pay $377 million in State taxes and levies
- 35,500 individuals volunteer 4.83 million hours at clubs (equivalent to 2,998 full-time jobs)
- Clubs provide 51.65 million hours of sport and leisure activities.
